TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING Completes Ship to Ship Methanol Bunkering
27 June 2026 – TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING INC. (TZS) has successfully completed a Ship to Ship (STS) methanol bunkering operation at its shipyard quay, marking a first for Zhejiang Province. By introducing STS methanol bunkering in addition to the conventional Truck to Ship (TTS) method, TZS has further enhanced its supply chain capabilities, spanning from construction to the delivery of alternative-fuel vessels.
The receiving vessel was the fourth vessel in the series of Methanol Dual-Fuelled 5,900TEU Type Container Carriers currently under construction at TZS. For the first three vessels, methanol bunkering was conducted via the Truck to Ship (TTS) method from the quay, which required a total of more than 30 tank trucks and took four days to complete bunkering operations. With the introduction of the STS method, the operation was completed in a single day, leading to improved safety and operational efficiency.

In carrying out this bunkering operation, safe and smooth execution was given the highest priority, with TZS working closely with municipal, district, and county regulatory authorities as well as partner companies to conduct thorough advance preparations. Standard operating procedures for all processes, along with risk assessments and emergency response plans, were jointly prepared and reviewed. On the day of bunkering, safety management was thoroughly reconfirmed and enforced at an operational meeting for all involved personnel. Through strict operational standards and a comprehensive safety management system, Zhejiang Province’s first STS methanol bunkering operation was carried out safely.
