As part of the Hiroshima Architecture Exhibition 2025, organised by the Kambara & Tsuneishi Foundation of the TSUNEISHI Group, a mobile kiosk— Small Architecture —titled “Cloud Descend”, designed by internationally acclaimed architect Junya Ishigami – has been installed in the south exit plaza of the JR Fukuyama Station. The installation is on view until 30 November 2025.

During his visit to TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING, Mr Ishigami remarked that the work was “created by bending steel plates three-dimensionally and welding them together, as if building a ship.” The structure applies gyōtetsu—a shipbuilding technique used to form three-dimensional steel plates—on an architectural scale. Drawing upon the expertise in steel fabrication cultivated through shipbuilding, the work embodies a distinctive form that blends the material strength of iron with a delicate structural balance—merging engineering precision with sculptural grace.
