MIHO SHIPYARD Undertakes Clean-Up Activities in Support of a Zero Marine Litter Future

MIHO SHIPYARD Co., Ltd., a member of the TSUNEISHI Group’s shipbuilding segment, has long been dedicated to protecting the marine environment, with employees united in their commitment to over two decades of clean-up initiatives.

On 6 June, the company-held a factory-wide clean-up involving all employees, who worked together to tidy the shipyard premises, office facilities, and surrounding neighbourhoods. This initiative formed part of “UMIGOMI ZERO Week 2025”, a nationwide clean-up campaign conducted under the Nippon Foundation’s “CHANGE FOR THE BLUE” initiative, which is part of the “Umi to Nihon PROJECT”. As a company deeply rooted in maritime activities, MIHO SHIPYARD takes part in this campaign annually.

Further to this, on 7 June, employees and their family members participated in a separate clean-up operation along the Miho Masaki coastline. This volunteer initiative, organised by the Shizuoka City Environmental Conservation Promotion Council, has seen MIHO SHIPYARD’s active involvement for over 20 years. This year, around 16 participants, including family members, joined the activity.
This event also welcomed broad participation from other local businesses as part of their ISO 14000 environmental management efforts, drawing approximately 500 volunteers from 43 companies. These activities not only support environmental protection but also foster stronger relationships with the local community.

Through these two clean-up initiatives, participants gained a deeper understanding of the growing problem of marine litter and the importance of environmental preservation and regional contribution.

MIHO SHIPYARD remains firmly committed to advancing initiatives that protect our oceans and promote sustainability for future generations.
