OUR GUIDING CONCEPT
A Wind Stirs
Wind is formless, yet it brings change wherever people and places meet.
In Japan, wind has long evoked the presence of human activity and the spirit of a place, as reflected in words such as fūga (refined elegance), fūzei (atmosphere and charm) and fūdo (the natural and cultural character of a place).
Through cultural practices such as architecture, Zen, music and sport, we open spaces where diverse people can gather and where tradition meets the present. By fostering connections between people, communities and society, we carry the life of each community forward into the future.
(By “cultural practice”, we mean more than simply learning about culture. It means experiencing and enjoying it first-hand, and continuing to cultivate it together with people and communities.)
