TTS Hosts Third Recruitment Seminar at UNTL – Supporting Engineer Development and Local Employment in Timor-Leste
5 March 2026 – TSUNEISHI TIMOR SHIPBUILDING, UNIPESSOAL, LDA. (TTS), TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING’s base in Timor-Leste, held a recruitment seminar at the Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology of Universidade Nasionál Timór Lorosa’e (UNTL).
This marked the third time the seminar had been held and it continues to serve as an important opportunity to recruit design personnel for TTS. Engineers hired through previous seminars are now playing key roles in the company’s design department, contributing to the development of technical human resources and the creation of local employment opportunities in Timor-Leste.

More than 300 students attended the seminar, mainly from the Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology at UNTL. Participants included students majoring in mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, civil engineering, information engineering, and geological and petroleum engineering. TTS plans to recruit approximately 20 design engineers from among students scheduled to graduate in 2026.

The seminar featured an introduction to TTS and its design operations by TTS employees. Mr Segismundo F. Exaltacion Jr., President of TSUNEISHI TECHNICAL SERVICES (PHILS.), Inc. (TTSP), who oversees the development of the design talent within the Group, also addressed the students. He explained career paths after joining the company and outlined the training framework for developing shipbuilding engineers.
In addition, Professor HAMADA Kunihiro and Professor MUTSUDA Hidemi of Hiroshima University delivered lectures on ship hydrodynamics and hull structures, offering students deeper academic insight into shipbuilding technologies.

During the Q&A session, students raised highly technical questions, such as why anchors are installed at the bow rather than the stern, and how wave impacts from multiple directions are analysed. Their questions reflected strong interest in advanced shipbuilding technologies, and many students listened attentively throughout the lectures.
TTS will proceed with applications, written examinations and interviews, aiming to welcome successful candidates in June 2026. The company will continue contributing to sustainable business development through the training of engineers and the expansion of local employment opportunities in Timor-Leste.
