Yura Town and TSUNEISHI YURA DOCKYARD Sign New Disaster-Prevention Agreement
— Enhancing Preparedness through Mutual Use of Facilities —
14 November 2025 – Yura Town, Wakayama Prefecture and TSUNEISHI YURA DOCKYARD Co., Ltd. (hereinafter TSUNEISHI YURA) have concluded an agreement concerning the mutual use of facilities in the event of a disaster.
This new framework aims to strengthen preparedness for major natural disasters, such as the anticipated Nankai Trough Earthquake and localised torrential rain. By cooperating to make use of facilities owned by both the municipality and the company, the agreement seeks to ensure a coordinated and efficient response during emergencies. It revises and enhances the previous arrangements for facility use.
Following the recent reassessment of the probability of a major Nankai Trough Earthquake and the growing severity of abnormal weather events, the importance of disaster preparedness among residents has been rising steadily. TSUNEISHI YURA will continue to work closely with the local government to ensure swift and effective measures should a disaster occur.
■ Purpose of the Agreement
To strengthen preparedness for major disasters, including a potential Nankai Trough Earthquake, through the mutual utilisation of facilities owned by both Yura Town and TSUNEISHI YURA.

■ Scope of Cooperation
- 1. Provision of “Seaside Yura”, the crew accommodation facility at TSUNEISHI YURA, as an evacuation shelter for Yura Town residents and others
- 2. Use of Repair Berths No.1 to No.5 at TSUNEISHI YURA as landing and departure points for vessels involved in rescue, relief, and logistics operations
- 3. Provision of Yura Town’s Disaster-Prevention Heliport as an evacuation site for TSUNEISHI YURA employees and related personnel
- 4. Mutual support for operation of the facilities at disasters
