On October 22, TSUNEISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (CEBU), Inc. (Balamban, Cebu, Philippines) held a NAMING & LAUNCHING CEREMONY for a 58,000-ton class bulk carrier “TESS58” . Those invited to attend included not only representatives of the ship owner but also members of The JAPANESE ASSOCIATION CEBU, INC.

After the NAMING & LAUNCHING CEREMONY, the visitors toured the spacious shipbuilding facilities as well as the Balamban campus of the University of San Jose-Recoletos, where the TSUNEISHI GROUP has held CSR activities for the Balamban District, and also Balamban Hospital and the Balamban Market.

The JAPANESE ASSOCIATION CEBU, INC., which includes about 250 Japanese members, operates the Cebu Japanese School (http://jac.ph/CJS/index.html) and holds periodic events, such as overseas safety seminars and free medical consultations, to promote friendship and exchanges of views among Japanese members. Japanese expatriate staff at TSUNEISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (CEBU), Inc. who have their families with them have become members, and children from these families are studying at the Japanese School operated by the JAPANESE ASSOCIATION CEBU. Consequently, this association maintains close ties with TSUNEISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (CEBU), Inc.

This invitation to the tour that included the launching ceremony was extended after the JAPANESE ASSOCIATION CEBU, INC. applied for the tour as a way to further its understanding of how TSUNEISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (CEBU), Inc. has contributed so much to Cebu's economic growth and regional development. JAPANESE ASSOCIATION CEBU President Yukihiro Mimura and Director Koichi Fujishiro remarked that they were quite impressed with the launching ceremony, the colossal ship, and the ongoing contributions to regional society being made by TSUNEISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (CEBU), Inc.
