ASTILLERO TSUNEISHI PARAGUAY exhibited for the first time at the maritime exhibition in Paraguay, “NAVIGESTIC” ~A great success with 4,000 people attending, and even discussion about Grain Barge~
TSUNEISHI GROUP’s shipbuilding base in Paraguay, ASTILLERO TSUNEISHI PARAGUAY S.A., exhibited for three days from 1st to 3rd October at the maritime exhibition “NAVEGISTIC” which was held at the Mariscal Lopez Convention Center in Paraguay’s capital city, Asuncion. A great success with 4,000 people attending the “NAVEGISTIC”.
This is the first time for ASTILLERO TSUNEISHI PARAGUAY S.A. to exhibit, and they are aiming to promote awareness of their operations and products in the river transport market. In the booth, they distributed sales Brochure and showed an introductory video that showed the shipyard while barges and pusher boats are being built. All visitors were given souvenirs such as caps with the Tsuneishi logo, ball pens and notebooks. In South American tradition, there were also light snacks from Paraguay such as Mini Egg Rolls and Red Fruits Muffins. Over the three days, 200 people involved in the shipping industry from countries including Argentina, Brazil, Spain, the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, Uruguay and Canada visited our booth, and the event was a great success.
Akira Itagi, The Chairman of ASTILLERO TSUNEISHI PARAGUAY S.A. said, “There was interest from many people in the maritime business, we received many inquiries about Grain Barge, Tanker Barge and Pusher, etc., and I am expecting several orders from South America where river transportation is becoming even more important.”
NAVEGISTIC has been held every year since 2012. In 2013, 90 companies exhibited, and a total of 3,500 people visited the exhibition. In 2014, 151 companies exhibited, and a total of 4,000 people visited the exhibition over the three days.

The connection between the Tsuneishi Group and South America began in 1956, when the Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Company’s second president Hideo Kambara, who was the mayor of Numakuma-gun in Hiroshima Prefecture (currently Numakuma-cho,Fukuyama City)at the time, offered his support for a project aimed towards emigration to Paraguay.
In recent years, the Tsuneishi Group, which primarily focuses on developing global ship construction and marine transportation businesses, has observed a marked increase in the necessity for river transportation and infrastructure maintenance in line with the growth of the South American export industry and overall economic development.
Established in 2008, ASTILLERO TSUNEISHI PARAGUAY S.A. is a shipyard where river transport barges and pusher boats are constructed and repairs are carried out.
