TSUNEISHI HOLDINGS endorses TCFD recommendations that encourage disclosure of climate-related impacts and risks, to accelerate environmental response
In April 2022, TSUNEISHI HOLDINGS CORPORATION (THD; HQ: 1083 Tsuneishi, Numakuma-cho, Fukuyama, Hiroshima, Japan; President: Hirotatsu Kambara) declared an endorsement of the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) recommendations, and will accelerate its environmental response and enhance appropriate information disclosure.
TCFD is an international organization established by FSB* that promotes stability for financial systems. The TCFD recommendations encourage companies to disclose information about the impacts and risks of climate change on their businesses. With this endorsement, THD will take steps to disclose information on the four core areas: governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets.
The TSUNEISHI Group’s businesses, including shipbuilding and shipping, are deeply related to the global environment. Thus far as well, we have executed a range of initiatives, such as developing products to decrease the environmental load in our shipbuilding business, implementing efficient operations in our shipping business, and handling waste disposal and developing recycled products in our environment business.
In addition, in January 2022, THD set up Sustainability Promotion Group to accelerate the efforts to implement the TCFD recommendations while promoting sustainability activities. It seizes this opportunity of committing to the support for the TCFD recommendations to take the climate change issue as one of its significant management challenges. At the same time, it will work to create new business opportunities to strengthen its management basis.
