TSUNEISHI TECHNICAL SERVICES (PHILS.), Inc., the Design Centre in the Philippines, Holds a Ceremony to Celebrate its 25th Anniversary
TSUNEISHI TECHNICAL SERVICES' President, Segismundo F. Exaltacion

On Saturday, 16 December, TSUNEISHI TECHNICAL SERVICES (PHILS.), Inc. (Location: Buanoy, Balamban, Cebu, Philippines; President: Segismundo F. Exaltacion, Jr.; below, TTSP) the Philippine-based design centre for TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING that handles new-ship design, held a ceremony at the Marco Polo Hotel on Cebu Island to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Approximately 670 people participated in the ceremony, including TTSP employees, family members and guests. BGen. Charito Plaza, Director General of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Yasunori Kohatake, Vice President of TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING and other dignitaries were among the attendees. TTSP President, Segismundo F. Exaltacion, Jr., expressed his gratitude saying, “In 1992 we started out with a staff of eight, which has increased to 470 employees over the last 25 years. Our ability to accomplish such growth can only be attributed to the tireless efforts of our employees and the support of TSUNEISHI GROUP. Please accept my thanks.” In addition to speeches, awards were given to staff members in recognition of 25 years of continuous service, and a special video tracing the company's 25-year history was screened.

25 Years of TTSP
- 1992
Business commences in Manila with eight Filipino employees. The aim was to train design engineers with a view to establishing a shipbuilding company in the Philippines. The business later relocated to Cebu. This first group was also responsible for surveying and assessing the business and cultural environment of the Philippines as they blazed a trail for future TSUNEISHI GROUP business in the Philippines.
- 1995
Staff numbers are increased and design capabilities are expanded to provide design diagrams to TSUNEISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (CEBU), Inc. (below, THI), the base for TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING in the Philippines established the previous year, and as a measure to combat yen appreciation.
- 1999
A branch office is established in Balamban Cebu, the location of THI.
- 2000
Internationally-recognised Quality Management System ISO9001 certification is obtained.
- 2007
The two offices are consolidated in Balamban Cebu to strengthen the operational structure; the design centre is located next to THI’s shipbuilding site.
- 2015
Segismundo F. Exaltacion, Jr., one of the initial eight employees hired in 1992, is the first Filipino to be appointed President, accelerating local involvement.

2017 - Celebrating our 25th anniversary
We will continue to grow together with the community in the Philippines, a country achieving remarkable progress, and build an even stronger operational structure in collaboration with THI and with TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING in Japan. A new office is scheduled for completion in December 2018 to accommodate our growth. By 2021, our headcount is anticipated to more than double, reaching 1095. The additional personnel will be key to our strategy of strengthening the design capabilities of the TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING group. As a design group offering high quality, we will continue to innovate, designing not only bulk carriers, our key product, but also a wide range of ship types including container carriers and tankers.
